Some couples can get pregnant right away, while others work towards their goal for months without success. Here are some tips that can help in conceiving a baby boy or girl.

1. Relax. This may seem like a no-brainer, but the stress of failing to conceive as you want can lead to a downward spiral of dashed hopes and depression that makes conception even harder. Men as well as women can become stressed over failing to achieve a pregnant because they think it reflects on their masculinity. Banish those negative thoughts! The best way to overcome stress related to trying to conceive is for both of you to practice yoga, deep breathing or other stress-relieving techniques together.

2. Learn the woman’s menstrual cycle. This can be accomplished by several methods involving keeping good records from the start of one period to the start of the next. Your chances of conceiving a baby boy or girl increase when you can pinpoint a woman’s fertile period. These techniques could involve tracking her body temperature, checking the condition of cervical fluid or other methods to determined ovulation.

3. If you smoke tobacco, drink alcohol or use illegal drugs, now is the time to quit. These practices have been shown to interfere with conception, as well as being bad for both you and your baby!

4. Use sexual positions that will help sperm travel up the vagina to fertilize an egg. In particular, avoid those positions in which the woman is on top of the man, as these angles will allow more semen and cervical fluid to leave the body.

5. Place a pillow beneath the woman’s hips during sexual intercourse to give the sperm more time to travel past the cervix.

6. Engage in sexual intercourse first thing in the morning. Most men have the highest sperm levels in the mornings.

7. Enjoy yourselves. Medical studies have found that a woman’s orgasm results in an alkaline condition in the vagina, which is more favorable for sperm than the organ’s typical acidic state that’s meant to repel bacteria. Furthermore, if both of you reach orgasm at the same time, this increases the opportunity for sperm to pass the cervix.

8. Men should avoid either constricting or overheating their testicles. Studies have shown that sperm counts decline if a man wears tight pants, brief underwear instead of boxers, or in some cases rides a bicycle frequently while wearing tight clothing. A man who is trying to impregnate his partner should also avoid using hot tubs and saunas, since excess

9. Some doctors recommend cutting back on dairy products. The “milk sugar” known as galactose can sometimes be harmful to ovarian function at high levels. Women who can’t metabolize galactose properly should get their calcium from fortified juices, beans, green leafy vegetables, and enriched flour rather than dairy products.

10. Finally, both partners should exercise regularly and eat a healthy diet. Keeping your bodies functioning well will ensure that you can make a healthy baby together.

Checking cervical fluid can aid conceiving a baby boy or girl

A couple who want to have a body have several methods available to them to help assure conception. One of these is to track the quality of the woman’s cervical fluid, which can aid in conceiving a baby boy or a baby girl.

The cervix, or entrance to the vagina, secretes cervical fluid. The hormone estrogen produces this fluid during the first phase of a monthly menstrual cycle, called the follicular phase.

Cervical fluid plays a crucial role in conception, because it helps to keep sperm alive for as long as five days. The fluid protects the sperm from the vagina’s naturally acidic environment and helps the sperm move up the fallopian tube so that it can fertilize an ovum, or egg.

To check cervical mucus, wipe the vaginal area with a tissue and observe what’s on the tissue. Then close the tissue around the sample you’ve collect and open it. Does the fluid sample appear to “stretch?” If the sample is thin and “stretchy,” you are at your peak time of fertility. This should be your optimal time to have intercourse in order to conceive.

Another way to get a sample of cervical mucus is to wash your hands thoroughly with antibacterial soap, and then insert two fingers into the vagina and pulls out some fluid. (Don’t do this if you think you might have a vaginal infection). Again, observe the sample for the characteristics listed earlier to determine fertility. In addition to being thin and stretchy, the fluid can be clear or iridescent in color. If the fluid has a bad odor, however, this can be a sign of a vaginal infection, and you should see your doctor right away.

In order to be sure of what you’re seeing when you check samples of cervical fluid, it’s a good idea to check the fluid at other times during your menstrual cycle so you become familiar with the differences.

In State 1 after the conclusion of your period, the cervical fluid appears sticky or gummy. This stage lasts two to three days.

In Stage 2, lasting two to four days, the cervical fluid changes to appear creamy or milky, similar to lotion. This signals the start of your fertile period.

At Stage 3, the cervical fluid begins to look like the white part of an egg, showing the thin and stretchy appearance. At this point, you are very fertile and likely to conceive if you have sexual intercourse as soon as possible. Women in their mid-20s are likely to have this “egg white” cervical fluid for as long as five days, while women who are in their mid-30s or older may only experience this stage for one to two days. That’s part of the reason that conception can be so much harder when the woman is older.

At Stage 4, the cervical fluid turns moist or sticky, or the cervix may seem dry altogether. This means that conception did not occur, and that you are infertile until the next ovulation period.

Some women can have a condition known as “hostile cervical mucus.” This occurs when the mucus becomes too sticky and thick for the sperm to penetrate it. This type of mucus also can become much too acidic for sperm to survive. Among the ways to overcome hostile cervical mucus:

Drink at least 10 glasses of water daily.

Stop smoking and cut down on caffeinated drinks.

If you’re taking a medication that dries up mucus in your sinuses, such as antihistamines for allergies, these can also dry up the mucus in your cervix. See if you can cut back or skip this medication around ovulation time to improve the condition of cervical mucus.

There is one final and quite surprising home remedy that can help the condition of hostile cervical mucus: Robitussin cough syrup. Robitussin typically is taken to loosen mucus resulting from colds, but it also works to thing hostile cervical mucus that is too thick. Robitussin contains guaifenesin, which is the active ingredient that loosens mucus. It can be found in generic cough syrups as well, but be sure to check the label to see that guaifenesin is the only active ingredient. Doctors suggest taking two teaspoons of Robitussin three times a day for five days prior to expected ovulation. Drink a full glass of water with each dose to help mucus production.

Track body temperature to help with conceiving a baby (boy or girl)

Trying to get pregnant without success? One of the ways that medical experts recommend to aid conceiving a baby (boy or girl) is to track your base body temperature, or BBT.

Your BBT is your temperature you make any move in the morning. You must take your temperature as soon as you wake up in the morning (yes, even before going to the bathroom) in order to chart your most likely fertile period.

The process works like this:

First, purchase a good basal thermometer and leave it on your nightstand. This is a type of thermometer that only registers from 94 to 100 degrees, but is marked in one-tenth of a degree increments for easy recording.

Next, set a scheduled time to take your temperature. Most likely, this will be the time that you usually wake up. It’s very important with this method to take consistent readings. If you wake up early, add one-tenth of a degree (.1) to your temperature for every half hour you’re early. If you oversleep, then subtract one-tenth of a degree for each half hour. You can only use these adjustments if you’re within 90 minutes of your usual wake-up time. That’s because your BBT rises as the day goes on.

Once you’ve taken your temperature, WRITE IT DOWN! This step can’t be emphasized enough. Try as you might, you will never remember what your temperature was yesterday. The only way you will be success in conceiving a baby (boy or girl) by using this method is to write down your temperature every day, so that you will know when your are ovulating.

It’s also important to chart your temperature to see if you can spot any patterns in your cycle. Some women exhibit what’s’ known as a “triphasic” pattern. Your BBT will be at its lowest at the beginning of your menstrual cycle, typically around 97 degrees F. When you ovulate, you should notice a rise in your temperature of about half a degree (or more). Your temperature will stay at this higher level throughout the two-week Luteal Phase, which is the time period between ovulation and the start of your next period.

During the Luteal Phase, the ovary forms a mass of yellow tissue called the corpus luteum. This mass release the hormone progesterone, which signals the uterus to prepare for the possibly implantation of a fertilized embryo. Your temperature will remain slightly elevated throughout this phase.

The third level of temperature (the “triphasic pattern”) occurs around six to nine days after ovulation if implantation occurs.

One reason it’s important to record and chart your BBT for a few months is because you’re most fertile two to three days before your temperature rises and on the day your ovulate. An ovum (egg) will only survive up to 24 hours, and often only 6 to 12 hours, so it’s important to have intercourse 12 hours before you ovulate.

Although sperm can reach the fallopian tube where the egg is traveling within minutes of intercourse, the sperm actually needs about half a day in the uterus in order to become capable of fertilization. That’s because technically sperm are foreign cells to a woman’s body, and unless the become becomes used to them, they may be rejected. That’s not what you want if you’re trying to conceive, so you need to give sperm their 12 hours of adjustment in the uterus.

In addition, you need at least 10 days of higher temperatures after an egg releases so that a fertilized egg has enough time to attach itself to the uterine lining. The typical Luteal Phase lasts 12 to 14 days, and you can verify that yours falls into this range by charting your temperatures. If you find that your post-ovulation temperature doesn’t stay higher for at least 10 days, you may have what’s known as a Luteal Phase defect, so consult with your doctor immediately. There are ways to increase your Luteal Phase so that you can improve your chances of conceiving a baby (boy or girl).

If you find your temperature has remained higher for 18 days, congratulations! It’s likely that you’re pregnant, and you need to make an appointment with your doctor right away to assure a healthy pregnancy.

You and your partner have made a crucial life decision: You’re both ready to have a baby! Somehow, though, you don’t seem to be getting pregnancy as quickly as you thought you would. Here are some of the top health tips for conceiving a baby boy or girl.

Throw out your birth control pills. This seems like a no-brainer, but the reality is that it may take several months for your menstrual cycle to return to normal after a long period of taking contraceptives. The same is true whether you took pills orally or wore a patch or a ring. It isn’t the method that’s the cause, it’s the hormone dosages, and every woman differs in how long it takes her body to achieve balanced hormone levels so she can become pregnant.

Start taking folic acid. Folic acid is actually a manufactured form of folate, a B vitamin that doctors and scientists have found is essential to reducing the risk of brain and spinal cord birth defects. That’s why the recommend that women who are trying to become pregnant begin taking folic acid before conception. That’s because the brain and spinal cord form early in pregnancy, so everything you can do to support that development is critical.

Quit tobacco, alcohol and drugs. Yes, all those bad habits we picked up in our misspent youth can stand in the way of conceiving a baby. Not taking drugs seems like an obvious choice, but there are too many deformed or addicted newborns to attest otherwise. Smoking is one of those habits that can affect both mother and father. Mothers who smoke run the risk of miscarriage, giving birth prematurely or having low birth-weight babies; even secondhand smoke can affect conception. Fathers who smoke often have lower sperm counts, making it harder for their partners to conceive. The harmful effects of drinking alcohol during pregnancy have become well-known, but doctors now know that alcohol can also interfere with conception as well.

Ditch the caffeine. Medical research has found that excess caffeine cuts a woman’s ability to absorb iron, increasing the chances of suffering stillbirth. Switch to decaf or, if you can’t quit caffeine altogether, limit yourself to one cup a day.

Maintain a healthy weight. Women who are either underweight or overweight have a much harder time getting pregnant and completing a full-term pregnancy.

Check on your timing. Begin charting your menstrual cycle so you can figure out when you’re most likely ovulating. Have sex during your fertile period to increase your chances of becoming pregnant.

Improve your chances. A woman can improve her chances of conceiving a baby (boy or girl) by making the natural environment of her vagina as friendly to sperm as possible. Don’t use scented tampons, artificial lubricants or vaginal sprays, and don’t douche. All of these upset the natural balance of the vagina by washing away cervical mucus that provides a medium for sperm to move to the ovum. In addition, trying elevating your hips on a pillow for about 15 minutes after intercourse, so that gravity helps more sperm make the journey to the ovum.

Finally, it isn’t all about the woman. Men can aid conception by trading their briefs for boxers to relieve pressure on the testicles and increase sperm count. In addition, a man’s sperm count is highest in the morning, so that would be a good time for sex if you wish to conceive.

Trying to get pregnant without success? One of the ways that medical experts recommend to aid conceiving a baby is to track your base body temperature, or BBT.

The only way you will be success in conceiving a baby by using this method is to write down your temperature every day, so that you will know when your are ovulating.

That’s because technically sperm are foreign cells to a woman’s body, and unless the woman’s body becomes used to them, they may be rejected.

There are ways to increase your Luteal Phase so that you can improve your chances of conceiving a baby.

If you find your temperature has remained higher for 18 days, congratulations! It’s likely that you’re pregnant, and you need to make an appointment with your doctor right away to assure a healthy pregnancy.

Checking cervical fluid can help you get pregnant

A couple who wants to have a baby have several methods available to them to help assure conception. One of these is to track the quality of the woman’s cervical fluid, which can aid in conceiving a baby.

Drink at least 10 glasses of water daily

Whenever there is a release of a mature egg from the ovary it is pushed down to the fallopian tubes and the tiny hairs on the inside of the fallopian tubes wave in slow motion as to push the egg towards the womb where the occurrence of conception takes place. If in case conception does not occur then the lining of uterine wall and blood is shed with the unfertilized egg. This process is known as menstruation.

Often only one egg is released from the ovary during ovulation and the egg released can stay alive up to 1 day. The time of ovulation is very crucial for a woman to conceive, as it is the period when maximum fertility is observed. The time of ovulation can determine the pregnancy as fertility is at its peak 5 days before ovulation and it continues even after 2 days of occurrence of ovulation. Some times ovulation can occur even if the menstrual period have not occurred and vice versa. There are countless eggs in a woman for ovulation, but stress is the main cause for disruption of ovulation. When the egg is not fertilized, it is re-absorbed by the uterus. Women may feel pain around the ovaries and there can be little blood spotting during ovulation.

When the menstrual cycle in a woman is normal then it is easy to determine the fertility days, although there are number of cases where women have irregular periods or abnormal menstrual cycles due to various reasons. Many women have ovulation between the 11th to the 21st day of their menstrual cycle; this is counted from the first day of the Last menstrual period. Sexual intercourse is these days increases the chance of pregnancy as these days are known as the fertile days.

The two parts of the ovulation cycle are the follicular phase and luteal phase. The follicular phase begins on the first day of the last menstrual period and it continues till the ovulation occurs. Every woman have a different menstrual cycle and it can last anywhere between a week to forty days. The luteal phase begins from the day of the ovulation and continues till the beginning of the next period. This phase is shorter when compared to the follicular phase as it lasts anywhere between 12-16 days.

A basal thermometer is usually used to determine the rise in body temperature, which indicates the occurrence of ovulation. The tracking of ovulation gives an idea whether a woman stands a chance to get pregnant or not during her cycle.

Women can improve their chances of getting pregnant during ovulation and also they can try for a certain gender of the baby. There are x (female) and y (male) sperm cells which are produced by men and they are responsible for the gender of the baby. When the intercourse takes place closer to the ovulation the chances are bright to have a baby boy, as the y sperm cells are quicker than the x sperm cells. They reach the egg first, so if you have intercourse one day before ovulation a baby boy can be expected. To increase the chances of having a baby girl you should have intercourse 3-4 day prior to ovulation as the y sperm cells are slower than the x sperms cells and they take much time to reach the egg, but they are larger and stronger than x sperm cells. The process can be a bit confusing at times but it is necessary to know the period of ovulation as it helps a woman to decide whether she wants a pregnancy or to prevent pregnancy.

The easiest ways to get pregnant are essentially to have unprotected sex when the woman is most fertile, generally at ovulation, and also to naturally improve your fertility level. As long as both of you are fertile then you will eventually conceive, and in many cases it is possible to improve your fertility and therefore make it easier to get pregnant. A woman is fertile if she produces a viable egg every month, whilst a man is fertile if he is able to produce strong and healthy sperm that are able to fertilize the egg, and improving your fertility is one of the easiest ways to get pregnant.

Many factors must be taken into account both to determine whether you are fertile, and in order to make yourself more fertile, one of the easiest ways to get pregnant, and consequently become pregnant easier. In the modern world, and particularly the West, our lifestyle as a society has resulted in a variety of fertility problems and there are speculations that around 16% of couples will experience difficulty in conceiving. Thankfully, however, there are more and more ways to naturally improve your lifestyle and your fertility level, to get pregnant more easily.

The first and easiest way to get pregnant is to experiment with different sexual positions during intercourse, and in order to become pregnant it may be beneficial to try deeper penetrating positions in order for the man to deposit his sperm closer to the woman’s cervix. Both the missionary and ‘doggie style’ intercourse are highly recommended for couples trying to find easier ways to get pregnant.

Diet can have a huge impact in your fertility, as the vitamins and nutrients you eat regulate your hormones and provide nourishment to your reproductive system. Having an un healthy body fat percentage can negatively impact the production of sex hormones. Specific food types and nutrients are beneficial, particularly Vitamin C, Vitamin D, Calcium and Zinc. For those trying to find easier ways to get pregnant, it may be worth seriously reducing or entirely removing alcohol and caffeine from your diet as both can reduce fertility levels by up to 50%.

Couples trying to increase their fertility should also engage in moderate exercise. Not only can this improve your general level of health, but it can also assist you in maintaining a healthy body fat percentage and therefore reduce the amount of estrogen in your body which will throw the menstrual cycle out of balance. Moderate exercise is, however, all that is required rather than anything too strenuous which could actually reduce rather than increase fertility.

There are a variety of herbs and natural remedies that are believed to increase fertility, and have been used for thousands of years to great effect. Taking Chasteberry and Dong Quai is regarded as one of the easiest ways to improve your chances of getting pregnant, by stimulating the pituitary gland and solving menstrual cycle problems respectively.

It is highly recommended, however, to consult with your medical health practitioner before any significant change in your diet or lifestyle, and to find more information on the easiest ways to get pregnant.

The first question that most couples who are trying to conceive will ask is ‘what is the best time to get pregnant?’ Obviously the best time to get pregnant is when the woman is most fertile, and most women are fertile around ovulation, which tends to occur in the middle of the menstrual cycle. During ovulation, an ovum or egg is released into the uterus and waits for around 12 hours to be fertilized.

It is possible to work out ovulation, which is the best time to get pregnant, through the calendar method, with the rule of thumb being that ovulation occurs 14 days before the end of the menstrual cycle. However, a more accurate way to determine the best time to get pregnant is by purchasing and using an ovulation predictor kit (OPK). Once your kit shows ‘positive’ then you have between 12 and 24 hours in which to fertilise the egg, before it dies.

Basal Body Temperature Charting is also used to determine when is the best time to get pregnant, and is based upon the notion that Estrogen and Progesterone, two important hormones, affect the woman’s body temperature with higher levels of Estrogen lowering body temperature and higher levels of Progesterone raising the woman’s body temperature. After ovulation, the Progesterone hormone raises and body temperature increases which means that by keeping a body temperature diary, you can determine when ovulation has started and therefore when the best time to get pregnant is.

Cervical Mucous Tracking is yet another method of determining the best time to get pregnant. As you approach your most fertile period, the cervical mucous in your vagina changes in its texture and consistency generally becoming more clear and stretchy. This provides a better and more hospitable environment for sperm, capable of supporting them for several days and, consequently, improves chances of conception.

It is important not to be too concerned if after the first month you have not conceived, as only 25% of couples do. However, after the first several months of trying to get pregnant, 80% of couples will be successful, in which case consulting with your health practitioner may be worthwhile and listening to their advice on the best time to get pregnant.

For further information on the best time to get pregnant it may be worth contacting your general health practitioner, as the article provided above is for informational purposes only and is not intended to diagnose, treat or replace any medical advice from your health practitioner.

Sex is considered to be safe during all stages of pregnancy when the pregnancy is normal, when there are few risks for complications like pre-term labor or miscarriage. Mostly expectant mothers find fluctuations in their moods and desire during some stages of pregnancy. Many women feel uncomfortable during sex due to their enlarged bodies during pregnancy. It is always best to consult your doctor to suggest regarding sex during pregnancy, generally it is safe to have sex, as the baby is protected by the amniotic fluid in the womb of the mother by the abdomen and by the mucous plug which seals the cervix which helps in guarding the infections.

There can be few situations when your health care provider can indicate you to avoid sex, they can be engaging in oral sex, engaging in sex with a partner who has sexually transmitted disease such as HIV, herpes or genital warts as the mother can contract the infection which can be dangerous to be unborn baby. Some other reasons cited by the doctor to avoid sex can be vaginal bleeding, vaginal discharge, leakage of amniotic fluid, history of miscarriage, history of premature birth or labor, low lying placenta, incompetent cervix or carrying more than one fetus.

Some experts suggest to completely avoiding sex during late weeks of pregnancy as the semen contain a certain chemical, which may provoke contractions. There are certain times like when women carries twins or more babies it is best to avoid sex during the third trimester. It should also be avoided if a woman experiences early labor pains or have a history of premature births or labor.

Many women find a lesser desire for sex due to hormonal imbalances, tender breasts, fatigue, nausea, frequent urination and exhaustion. While some women can find an increased crave for sex during their pregnancy. Good communication between the partners could be of great help to satisfy each other during the pregnancy period.

Certain positions of sex could be changed during pregnancy as a safety measure. The traditional missionary position should be avoided after four months of pregnancy as the weight of the enlarged uterus puts a lot of pressure on the major vessels carrying blood. Other positions of sex like side by side can be a good alternative. Oral sex should be avoided during pregnancy as blowing into the vagina can be very harmful for the mother and the baby.

When the baby is born the couple has to wait until the postpartum checkup to resume their sex life, as the genital organs of a woman takes some time to heal after delivery. Doctors advise to have sexual intercourse after about 6 weeks as the vagina gets ample time to heal. If you are not enjoying sex then other options can be thought of like self-stimulation or oral sex. Sexual intercourse can be painful or discomforting for the first few times after pregnancy due to the dryness in the vagina. However this problem disappears after some days or else few lubricants can be used to over come the dryness.
