Pregnant women should not ever try to auto medicate herself. Before taking any medicine or drug she should take advice of her family doctor of gynecologist. There are many variables that determine whether a drug is appropriate or not during pregnancy. There are drugs, classified as high risk, not because they can never be used to induce abortions and premature births. The expert’s advice, as a general rule, does not take drugs during a critical stage of pregnancy called <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Organogenesis" target="_blank">organogenesis</a>. During this period, the first ten weeks of gestation, the fetus develops its vital organs and transformed into an embryo. Organogenesis is particularly sensitive to the baby because any external factor, including an inadequate intake of drugs, can cause a malformation or alteration of their growth.</p>

One of these imbalances is that the body needs more insulin to bring a more precise use of glucose. Clear evidence of this change is experienced by all pregnant women, usually in the morning noticed the unpleasant symptoms of hypoglycemia: nausea, sleepiness, fatigue, weakness, and so on.</p>

* A history of:</p>
<p>* Abortions unexplained.<br />
* Newborns large for gestational age.<br />
* Malformations in the newborn.<br />
* Significant maternal obesity (90 kg or more).</p>
<p>Some minor data are multiparity, toxemia of pregnancy and recurrent preterm birth repeated. The presence of more than one data increases the likelihood that a disorder in glucose metabolism.</p>
<p>Glycosuria (glucose in urine) is a frequent finding, as 15% of pregnant women have, so the search for cases based on this information alone is ineffective. The existence of a high need for insulin during pregnancy does not necessarily indicate that diabetes persists after birth.</p>

<p>MONITORING OF DMG</p>
<p>After the test should be repeated postpartum glucose tolerance. If the test is still positive, the patient has a diabetes clinic (which was revealed for the first time during pregnancy). As some patients with DM develop clinical DMG then they should be advised to maintain a normal body weight and requested to attend an annual review, or immediately if you become pregnant again.</p>

Medical conditions caused by pregnancy:<br />

If Your Pregnancy Might Be High Risk:</p>
<p>Genetic counseling is available to couples who think they might be in the high-risk category. A genetic counselor&#8217;s job is to help a couple understand the nature of their risk or complication and what it could mean to the pregnancy. If possible, seek genetic counseling before you begin trying to conceive if you:<br />
•	Have a pre-existing, ongoing medical condition,<br />
•	Know of any genetic disorder in your or your partner&#8217;s family or<br />
•	Have had a previous high risk pregnancy.</p>
<p>If Your Pregnancy Is High Risk:<br />
When you learn your pregnancy is high risk, you might feel worried and overwhelmed. Talk to your doctor or midwife about your concerns; write questions down as you think of them and bring the list to your next appointment. In the meantime, here are some things you should know:<br />

<p>Probably, it is especially wise to avoid whiskey, brandy, and other refined or stronger drinks that contain concentrated byproducts as many of these drinks do.</p>
<p>But the most important idea is to avoid heavy drinking totally. The result, fetal alcohol syndrome produces permanent brain damage in babies. If you cannot drink without drinking heavily, don&#8217;t drink!<br />
I&#8217;ve personally known enough women who drank wine or beer lightly during pregnancy and who had healthy babies, so to recommend against drinking alcohol entirely is sending the wrong message, in my honest opinion.</p>
<p>The main message I would want to get across to any soon to be mother is that cigarette smoking, many prescription drugs, and recreational drugs, heavy alcohol consumption, not taking a multi-vitamin or eating too lightly is very much discouraged. You need to take good care of yourself.</p>
<p>When it comes to eating, you can eat just about as much as you are hungry for of unsalted crackers &#8211; especially nonfat ones, cereals, fresh fruit, nonfat dairy products like skim milk and nonfat yogurt, corn and many vegetables. And if weight issues are not a problem &#8211; or heart or diabetic disease, full fat cheese and butter in moderation are also O.K.</p>
<p>So make sure to take care of the important dangers during a pregnancy. If you don’t want to do it for yourself, at least do it for the health and welfare of your baby.</p>
